knight's tour is a thought experiment where you imagine a chess piece stepping on every board square exactly once. this game is kind of like that, except you can choose your own custom rise over run (slope), and also instead of a chessboard i just kinda made some shit up.

what is the maximum score? how many different scores are possible? i have absolutely no idea. share your research with your friends or the comment section below and maybe we can come closer to solving these mysteries,

1.4874^10 (written this way as a spoiler) is the max score with regular knight movement, and you can trivially get any score below that by starting n moves into the path. It seems like a different movement shape also maxes out at the same score, i wish it were slightly higher.

easter egg where if you hit that score you get to add 1 additonal clickable tile to the board 🤔🤔🤔

when you say "it seems like a different movement shape also"... did you check for solutions programmatically or something?

No, i proved an upper bound that is likely reachable, i couldnt keep track of the bottom right area well enough to be sure

i got a 12, a 20, a 5 a 3 and a 2. i dont really know why, but this is easily my favorite game of the jam. from the interpretation of thinky, to the strange interpretation of "thinky" meaning philosophical, to the bizarre title and text font. this is just so unique. awesome.

EDIT: by the way, what font did you use for the title?

omg thank you for the lovely comment 😭😭💌 the font is "'engravers MT'" !!

no problem! sorry to annoy you again, but did you apply some sort of effect to the text?

you're all good, i'm unannoyable ðŸ˜Š i did this process in my image editing software:

  • duplicate the [most recent] text layer
  • on the layer beneath:
    • apply 20 points of hue shift
    • apply 25px of motion blur (at -34°)
    • reduce the opacity juust a liiiitle bit
  • repeat until you've cycled through all the colors back to the one you started from

i also put a 1px white outline on the topmost text layer!
